Sarah Bennett-Baggs Snetterton Report

The latest race report from Sarah Bennett-Baggs and the Adrian Flux sponsored E46 M3.

Last weekend was the penultimate round of the Britcar GTN Championship, where SBB and teammate Jensen Lunn were hoping to put the mechanical problems of Castle Combe behind them. With that in mind they arrived in Norfolk on Friday to give the car a thorough shake-down and by Saturday’s qualifying session, the car was running well, although both drivers reported it to be down on power compared to normal. The car qualified 5th in class, to start 19th out of 33.

With the Championship still in the balance, it was essential to Sarah and Jensen to score good points if they were going to put pressure on Simon Phillips and Chris Randall, eight points clear in their Lotus Elise.

At 12.25 on Sunday, the two hour race began, but Sarah’s first session was disrupted by several safety car incidents which prevented her from making up ground, but by the time she pitted to hand over to Jensen, she had maintained position and the competitors in her class were still in sight. Jensen put in a flawless performance and made up a large number of places to bring the car home 12th overall and fifth in their class.

Sarah says “I think both Jensen and I are both a little disappointed, we have both been driving our socks off this weekend, but for some unknown reason we were not as competitive as we normally are, either we have lost some power or everyone else in our class has stepped up their game, I don’t think either of us could have done anything more – it was a faultless drive, we have both been pushing hard all weekend and both stayed out of trouble and on the track. What more can I say, its a shame we couldn’t do any more.”

Sarah Bennett-Baggs at Silverstone 24 hour

Flux-sponsored superwoman Sarah Bennett-Baggs has some great footage from the Silverstone 24 hours, which took place towards the end of last year.

You can read her own account of an up-and down weekend here, and find out how many pairs of knickers are required for a gruelling 24 hour race, and how to not wet yourself when you’re desperate for a wee with hours of driving still to do.

Overcoming obstacles including terrible weather, and an Aston Martin which one of her co-drivers helpfully crashed, the team finished a creditable 13th in their class, despite losing 5 laps replacing broken seat bolts, and many more repairing the front wing and radiator after the aforementioned ‘off’.

The team finally crossed the finish line 22nd overall 13th in class having completed exactly 500 laps and their adventure was chronicled in high definition by Sorted Media.

Bennett-Baggs an Aston

Sarah Bennett-Baggs who you may remember from our previous post or the influx article, is a racing driver whom Adrian Flux sponsor… Well she is back for 09 with a brand new car, an Aston Martin N24.

Last year Sarah did really well coming second in class for the 2008 Porsche Club Championship. She managed to cause quite a stir with her bright pink 1978 911 SC and Flux Babe inspired overalls.

With the new car Sarah is competing in the GT Cup, and has already secured a cup with a 2nd in class finish at Brands hatch.

Well done Sarah, keep up the work at Snetterton in June and good luck for the rest of the season.

Sarah Bennett-Baggs a win.

sarah baggs a first in class

You may remember that we sponsor Sarah Bennett-Baggs, who last year drove a BMW in the Britcar series.

Well this year she’s driving in the Porsche Club Championship, in a 1978 Porsche 911 SC. The first race was Easter Monday at Donington Park, and congratulations are due to Sarah, who finished her first two races with a class win and a third in class finishes. A great achievement – and Sarah is the first woman to win in the history of the Porsche Club Championship.

Sarah has really pushed the boat out this season – as you can see, she’s had an outfit made to co-ordinate with the Flux Babes,

What’s more Sarah is convinced she can improve in races to come, saying “I am really looking forward to the rest of the season as I am still getting used to racing 30 year old technology!”

Best of luck Sarah. She’ll be at Oulton Park this weekend, and starts as class leader, so I’m sure she’d appreciate any support if you’re in the area.
