Fastest growing gathering of classic vehicles in the UK finds new large site close to Swindon.

One of the newest and fastest growing classic car shows in the UK has announced a late change of venue for Summer 2009.

But it's not moving far. Formerly the Wroughton Classic Car Show and originally occupying the Science Museum's Wroughton Airfield site, the show is moving this summer to The Liddington, a prestige 155 acre location only five miles away, but even closer to Junction 15 of the M4 motorway.

In just three years from its founding in 2006 the Show has grown to become the largest in the UK, attracting over 3,000 classic vehicles and more than 25,000 visitors last year. Now, with a new headline sponsor the show is entitled The Adrian Flux Classic Car and Bike Show and can offer extra facilities for family visitors and enthusiasts.

Founder and organiser Greg Dunningham has taken the decision to move with an eye to the show's continued and growing popularity, and says it's an opportunity too good to miss.

"Our success at Wroughton exceeded our wildest expectations, but we had to share that site with a working museum, and it was clear I had to think to the future," he says. "The Liddington offers several bonuses. It's got as much space as the old venue, but it also has several entry points enabling us to use a faster 'one way system' for entry and exit, along with separate trade access.

"And we've negotiated special deals with the attached Hotel and Conference Centre for visitors who want to relax and stay over. For example, they are offering visitors to the Show top quality accommodation from only �18 per person per room."

Greg Dunningham adds that the major car clubs have been enthusiastic about the change. "The Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club is holding its Southern Day at the show, with almost a thousand Jags expected to join us. The popular Old Sodbury Sortout will be bigger and better than ever at Liddington, with a special focus on old vintage machinery and collectables plus Series 1 and 'leaf-sprung' Land Rover autojumble and parts. The Wilts VW DubFest is also expecting record numbers of classic and traditional Volkswagens to attend."

This regenerated Adrian Flux Classic Car and Bike Show is being run in conjunction with Adrian Flux Insurance Services, Classic Car Weekly and Classic Bike Magazine, and is set to be the largest ever. The show will feature a huge variety of motors - from veteran 'old crocks' to rare examples of legendary racing cars and concours-quality cars, vans, motorbikes and other old, traditional and unusual vehicles.

With a large number of car clubs coming, it will be an opportunity to see collections of similar rare vehicles together. Family attractions such as a pedal car race and novelty vehicles are also scheduled.

In addition to a number of competitions with several categories, there will be a variety of grand prizes and trophies, all leading up to the coveted Adrian Flux Car of the Year award for the Best Car in show.

TV and media coverage includes the Classic Gear programme from the 'Men and Motors' TV channel, which last year dedicated an entire episode to the show. There are plenty of insurers willing to look at property-to-rent portfolios, but not all of them like student lets. Adrian Flux's landlord division has a new scheme for landlords renting to students. As well as offering very competitive rates the scheme includes free contents cover.

This year's Adrian Flux French Car Show takes place on Sunday June 14th at Rockingham. The Show is a great day out for the family, with exciting entertainments including car and motorbike stunt teams, track events, a live rally stage and loads more. Rob Sayell wins silverware in first meeting at Silverstone.

A six-times world champion motor racing driver from East Anglia has gone back to the starting grid - to try his hand at a different type of racing. Rob Sayell, who dominated the Grand Prix Midget class of racing for several years, has switched to the new Formula Jedi Championships.

And in a gesture of support, Norfolk specialist motor insurance broker Adrian Flux Insurance Services has announced it is sponsoring Rob's new Jedi car for his first season in the formula's Club Class championship.

"I am so pleased to be sponsored by Adrian Flux," says Rob. "It is a high profile national company and the name will be recognised wherever I am. Even better is the local connection to my home town of King's Lynn. I love the logo and am proud to have it there."

Adrian Flux's sponsorship of Rob is a natural one for the company, based at East Winch. It specialises in insuring classic, performance and modified cars throughout the UK, and is a major East Anglian employer.

Racing is in the Sayell blood, as Rob succeeded his father Harry, also a former world champion in Grand Prix Midget racing. For several years Rob, a professional heating engineer in King's Lynn, has dominated the Grand Prix Midget sport, winning a record six World Championships, six National points championships, as well as two European Championships and many British Championships.

Formula Jedi is a step up. It's club car racing that uses the long circuits such as Silverstone, Snetterton, and Brands Hatch, instead of the Grand Prix Midget's smaller, shorter 'ovals'.

A couple of years ago Rob tested a Formula Jedi car and was delighted with its power and agility.

Formula Jedi runs two championships. Rob has opted for the Club Class, for cars with engines built 2003 or before. Nonetheless, the extra cost of running the cars and entering the races meant he had to look for sponsorship.

"Rob is a local lad and at Adrian Flux we are very committed to our East Anglian roots," said Gerry Bucke, Commercial Director at Flux. "He's already an established champion in Grand Prix Midget racing, but we like to support the up and coming stars. When he said he was switching to the new Jedi racing, that put him back in the contender stakes, and we reckoned he deserved our backing."

Compact and light, and driven by an R1 1000cc Yamaha Superbike engine, Jedi cars are astonishingly fast and manoeuvrable, reaching top speeds of 150mph. With all the cars in the formula being similarly specified, it's a real test of driving skill.

"Jedi racing on the long circuits is something completely new to me, and I don't expect to be a champion again in my first season" says Robert Sayell. "In many ways I'm starting afresh."

Yet in his very first appearance at Silverstone, over Easter, Rob finished 12th overall and also won his Class, taking home silverware.

The Adrian Flux Wroughton Classic Car and Bike Show has announced a number of new attractions for the 2009 show, which is fast turning into one of the UK's biggest 'for all-the-family' motor attractions.

Headline sponsor Adrian Flux Insurance Services and co-sponsor Classic Car Weekly magazine have been joined by Classic Bike magazine, as interest grows in the motorcycle section of the show.

There's no need to fill in tedious forms, no need to look up details, no need even to talk to the previous insurer - Flux does everything.

There's a lot of confusion about insurance when it comes to taking a motorbike abroad. Rob Balls of Bikesure, one of the UK's leading motorcycle insurance brokers, offers advice on what's covered, what isn't and how far bikers can go.

Will my UK bike insurance provide cover for motorcycling in Europe?

"Most policies should offer up to 30 days cover in the EU in any 12 month period. At Bikesure we usually offer 90 days. We are also able to give longer periods of cover, depending on the policy. Some offer up to 150 days and one of our underwriters will provide cover in Europe for the full 12 months.

"If you plan to travel much during the year, talk to your insurer when you take out the policy - it may well be that their recommendation will change if you're going to be away for more than 30 days."

What about breakdown cover?

"Many insurers now offer breakdown service insurance as an add-on to motorbike cover. It's just like being a member of a standard roadside assistance service, such as the RAC or AA, but usually it will be cheaper. Bikesure's breakdown policy costs �49 per year and covers roadside assistance, home start and recovery to home. It also covers the policyholder for up to 30 days biking on the continent, in most European destinations, including hotel accommodation and replacement vehicle options."

How far can a biker go?

"Each policy is different so you need to check with your provider. At Bikesure most policies cover the EU plus certain other European countries. We can also cover (depending on the insurer) Israel, Morocco, Tunisia and Turkey. Most insurers will probably want to know how long you are likely to be in any non-EU country. Frankly it's much easier if you can stick to the EU!"

Will travel insurance provide personal accident cover for bikes hired abroad?

"Lots of people hire a bike when they are away. The bike provider should arrange bike insurance, but personal accident (PA) cover is different. Young Norfolk karting star meets F1 hero and lands sponsorship deal.

Faster, Jacques, Faster!

Marham youngster shakes hands with Hamilton, burns rubber and lands sponsor deal with Flux

Jacques Morley, one of Norfolk's rising young motorsport stars, realized a lifetime ambition recently when he shook hands with Lewis Hamilton. More importantly, the eleven-year old from Marham is continuing to make his mark on the racing circuits in the Formula Kart Stars Championship, which is now directly affiliated with Formula One. And the icing on the cake came with the news that local sponsors Adrian Flux Insurance Services has agreed to continue to support Jacques this year.

"I was invited to meet Lewis at the launch of the 2009 Stars Championship in February, when Bernie Ecclestone announced the official tie-in with F1," says Jacques. "It was really exciting, as it means we'll be getting much more TV and media attention. But the best thing was meeting Lewis."

Gerry Bucke of Flux agrees that the F1 tie-in is huge news for the sport. "It will give Jacques a much bigger profile, especially if he carries on doing well," he says. "Jacques has made a great start to the year," says Jacques' mum, Claudia. "He's racing against as many as 68 other drivers off the grid and consistently finishing in the top ten. There isn't a driver in the championship that he hasn't beaten."

At the recent cadets meeting at Whilton Mill, Northants, Jacques had no less then three top four finishes in the heats, coming first, third and fourth. In the final he started in pole and led the race till another car clipped his wheels just 200 yards short of the finish. "It was a real shame but that's racing," he says.

Jacques is looking forward to working with his hero Hamilton, who cut his motorsport teeth in the karting championships. As part of the official tie-in, the F1 champion intends to help young stars like Jacques develop their talent. "I enjoyed my time in karting massively and, more importantly, learnt a huge amount," says Hamilton. "Hopefully I can give them some good advice, the most important of which is not to neglect their education in their drive to succeed in motorsport. It's all about keeping pushing and continually trying to be the best in every way."

Flux condemns AA's modified car comments as 'ridiculous'

Young adults who modify their cars are statistically safer drivers, says specialist broker.

AA should "get facts straight before shooting their mouth off"

AA Chairman Edmund King's comments about young motorists, modified cars and nitrous oxide kits have been condemned as 'ridiculous' by a leading specialist insurance broker.

Adrian Flux Insurance Services is the UK's largest provider of insurance for modified cars and is one of the only specialist brokers to cover cars fitted with nitrous oxide kits. "King is just trying to get media coverage by hitting a soft target and rattling middle England," says Gerry Bucke of Flux.

Amongst King's comments were the immortal words: "If you � put [young drivers] in a modified car... then accidents are much more likely to happen."

"There's one problem with this: it is absolute rubbish," says Bucke. "Young drivers of modified cars are on average 20% less likely to have an accident and make a claim than young drivers in cars with a standard specification.

"For a respected body like the AA to indulge in this sort of scaremongering is pathetic," he adds. "We welcome any initiative that will make young motorists drive more safely, but this sort of comment is just going to make them angry."

Flux campaigns to make young motorists drive more safely - for example, it offers big discounts for those taking advanced tests such as the RideDrive scheme and is currently working with Northamptonshire Police on the CarKraft Experience. "We're totally committed to encouraging safer driving," says Bucke. "The truth is, guys who modify their cars tend to be involved in fewer accidents. They invest heavily in their cars and take more care of them. That's true of the ones that fit nitrous oxide systems, too.

"King needs to get his facts straight before shooting his mouth off."
