Adrian Flux to sponsor top Jaguar racing team

A top Jaguar racing team will carry the name of King's Lynn-based specialist insurance broker Adrian Flux for the coming season.

Flux, which employs about 500 staff at Each Winch Hall, has sponsored Surrey-based Redline Racing, which races in the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club (JEC) series.

Howard Kirkham, a class winner of more than 60 races in XJ saloons since he began racing in 1999, said that without sponsorship the car would never reach the track.

"I'm thrilled to have Adrian Flux on board as a sponsor," he added. "Sponsorship is vital for us to race as it can cost an average of £10,000 a season to compete.

"The entry fees alone can be up to £250 a race and that's before you take into account fuel and travel costs, not to mention maintaining the performance of the car itself. Simply put, we couldn't race without sponsorship."

Kirkham, commercial director for the team and overall championship winner in 2000, contacted Flux - one of only three insurance brokers approved by the Jaguar enthusiasts Club - after seeing an advert in Jaguar Magazine.

He will race in a white and green modified 4-litre fuel injected X300, which produces 280 brake horsepower - propelling the car to speeds of up to 130mph.

"The money from Flux will help me to fine-tune the car's performance and handing even more," he added. "We're also using different tyres this year, which should make the car even quicker."

The 2010 championship gets under way on April 10 at Snetterton race track, Norfolk, with a total of 12 races taking place at circuits across the UK, until the series returns to Snetterton again for its final race in October.

Gerry Bucke, operations director at Flux, said he was looking forward to watching the team race at Snetterton.

"We are delighted to be supporting Redline Racing and hope that the sponsorship will help to maintain and improve the team's performance in the JEC series this season. We are also very much looking forward to watching Howard race at Snetterton in April and wish him the best of luck."
