Adrian Flux is giving £50 off any car insurance policy for drivers who complete an award-winning safety course at Silverstone.
The CarKraft course, run by Northamptonshire County Council and supported by Renault UK and Flux, is being relaunched on Sunday, October 28 at the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone Circuit.
The event costs £49.99 and lasts for around three hours. It offers a dynamic mix of workshops, allowing participants to experience driving on simulated, adverse road conditions on a state of the art, purpose-built facility at the home of the British Grand Prix.
The event is open to drivers and non-drivers aged 15+ who will take part in a safer driving, roles and responsibilities workshop looking at the main causes of car crashes – alcohol, mobile phones, speeding and seat belts.
The drivers aged 17+ will then experience the Kick Plate, which is a movable metal plate set flush with the road surface and triggered remotely as the car travels over it thereby generating the effect of a loss of wheel traction.
They will also experience the Ice Hill, which generates the feel of sheet ice with controlled water jets. The area allows drivers to explore car control under extreme road conditions. Furthermore, they will learn to understand how the car handles and how ABS (anti-lock brakes) work.
They will then have an assessed drive on the public roads with an advanced Police driver, who will provide tips and guidance on advance driving techniques.
The non-drivers aged 15+ will have the opportunity to have their first driving lesson with an approved ADI on the Porsche Experience Centre test track.
They will also have a workshop with an experienced Advance Driving Instructor (ADI). The main areas covered in this session are:
– Applying for a driving licence, when, filling in the form, the cost etc.
– Looking for an instructor, cost, qualifications, recommendations
– Insurance – getting quotes, getting their own
You can book your place on the CarKraft website.
