The life of Enzo Ferrari, creator of the most iconic of classic Italian sports car brands, will be celebrated during a special exhibition parking up in London this autumn.

The London Design Museum in Kensington High Street, London W8 6AG, will

host the Ferrari exhibition to commemorate the 70th anniversary of this, the most celebrated of supercars.

Visitors will be treated to an insight into the life of the motor racing driver turned sports car entrepreneur Enzo Ferrari, and get to see rare documents, photographs and a selection of unique high-performance cars.

The exhibition will go behind the scenes of the brand’s history and offer a glimpse of how Ferraris were created, from the first vehicle which took to the test track in 1947 to today’s head-turning supercar street models which sell for hundreds of thousands of pounds and even starting grid-ready racers.

It will aim to reveal what made the peerless prancing horse logo, the symbol of illustrious success, automotive elegance and breath-taking Italian horsepower, one of the most coveted motoring marques on the market.

Some of the most famous Ferrari models will be on show

Some of the most famous vehicles Ferrari has designed will be on show including the Enzo – named, of course, after the creator – and the Dino, named after his brother.

Personal memorabilia and documents from Enzo Ferrari’s life will also be on display to give an insight to how and why he created Ferrari, and what inspired the company’s phenomenal attention to detail in every element of each car’s design.

The exhibition will also present Ferrari’s racing heritage, the ongoing quest for innovation as well as the glamour of their well-known clientele.

Ferrari: “one of the great adventures of the industrial age”

Curator Andrew Nahum said: “Ferrari’s story has been one of the great adventures of the industrial age.

“It also represents an absorbing case study in design and development.

“Ferrari uses the subtle and often unseen techniques of automobile design but with the utmost care and precision and the exhibition provides an insight into the history and practice of the whole private world of automotive design.”

Ferrari: Under the Skin will run from November 15 until April 15, 2018.
