A famous special edition Lamborghini Diablo – a devilishly good car once owned by Jamiroquai’s Jay Kay – is up for sale for a cool half million pounds.
Music lovers will remember the supercar racing down a mountain with Jay Kay at the wheel in the video shot to accompany the band’s 1996 hit “Cosmic Girl”.
The video helped elevate the Lamborghini Diablo to iconic pop status and also featured a Ferrari F355 Berlinetta and a red Ferrari F40.
This Lamborghini Diablo, however, was one of two to actually feature in the video.
The first was written off in an accident forcing Jay Kay to buy a second Diablo – but it too was damaged on set when a camera fell and smashed its windscreen.
Lamborghini Diablo hits 0-60mph in 3.9 seconds
To prevent holding up the shoot by getting the car repaired Jay Kay had to drive with no windshield during the rest of the video’s production.
The famous Diablo is now up for sale on Auto Trader with Preston-based Amari Supercars. The asking price is £549,000, but well-heeled supercar-loving music fans will consider it something of a snip.
Launched as a special edition to celebrate Lamborghini’s 30th anniversary, this Diablo SE30 is one of just 16 right-hand drive models ever produced.
Powered by a 5.7-litre V12 engine and with almost 500bhp, the Diablo will accelerate from 0-60mph in 3.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 200mph.
The car boasts uber stylish blue suede interior, classic Lambo gull-wing doors, scratch-free 18-inch alloys and the engine is barely run in having clocked just 17,000 miles in its 20-year lifetime.
This Lamborghini Diablo is from “hyperspace”
Auto Trader Car’s Editor, Andy Pringle, said: “You’ll often find rare, exotic and famous cars on Auto Trader, but it’s not every day you’ll find one from hyperspace.
“One of three classic supercars used in the Cosmic Girl video – it’s the only one that the ‘Space Cowboy’ actually owned – so although it might price-out most music fans at over half a million pounds, there could be a love affair reunited on the cards if Jay Kay’s browsing Auto Trader this week.”
