You can buy yourself a tiny slice of Italy’s dolce vita in the shape of this charming little 52-year-old Fiat 500 D Trasformabile which is coming up for auction at Duxford in November.
The pre-auction estimate if an incredibly modest £10,000-£12,000.
The right-hand drive conversion was sourced in Italy and professionally restored in 2012 by Signature Automobiles of Beckenham in Kent as a 40th birthday gift for the vendor’s wife.
This fab Fiat 500 has been ‘carcooned’ since upgrade
Finished in Celeste Crociera with cream interior, an upgraded 600cc engine gives good performance although since completion of the works the car has been used sparingly and “carcooned” for long periods of time.
An ancient suitcase complete with labels of iconic 1960s destinations adorns the boot.
Debuting in 1957, the Fiat 500 featured unitary construction and all-independent suspension.
Introduced in 1960, the rare 500 D Trasformabile offered a full length folding roof and more performance from a detuned version of the Sport model’s powertrain.
Fiat 500 ‘a true motoring icon’
Now a true motoring icon, the Fiat 500 is recognised as a landmark design in the history of motoring.
The history file includes a CD of images and photographs of the restoration together with copies of the original Italian title documents.
The little gem is offered with MOT to September 2018 and Swansea V5C.
The car is being offered for sale by H&H Auctions at Duxford on Wednesday, November 15.
