Motor racing legend Nigel Mansell, Ashes to Ashes actor Philip Glenister and his distinctive Audi Quattro and a fleet of iconic cars take centre stage at Excel London next month for the 2018 Classic Car Show.

The London Classic Car Show is the must attend event for discerning classic car owners, collectors, experts and enthusiasts.

It is an international celebration of the very best dealers, manufacturers, car clubs and products and a great day out for all the family.

Grand Avenue at the London Classic Car Show

Set in one of capital’s best events venues, one of the most crowd-pleasing features is an indoor runway,   the London Classic Car Show “Grand Avenue” where classic cars are fired up and driven.

This is the only place to see, hear and smell these iconic classics in action, all under one roof.

As well as the cars, Ashes to Ashes actor Philip Glenister, AKA DI Gene Hunt,  curates a selection of the greatest Getaway Cars from real-life and film.

TV star looking forward to London Classic Car Show

Glenister, who also co-presents Channel 4’s motoring show For the Love of Cars, said: “We will take our inspiration from TV, films and real life.

“Cars need to be quick, handle well and, of course, have lots of room in the back.

“I’m sure we’ll have an iconic red Quattro on display somewhere at the show, but this display will be about cars from the other side of the law. “

Elsewhere in Excel The Grand Avenue will feature a host of motoring “Specials” – cars steeped in history and mystique owing to their unique designs and outlandish performance. Sixty such machines will grace the Grand Avenue this year.

London Classic Car Show tribute to Nigel Mansell

The show will also celebrate the remarkable motor racing career of Nigel Mansell CBE.

It is now 25 years since Mansell finally won the FIA Formula One World Championship title in 1992. To mark that milestone there will be a special display of his cars, trophies and other rarely seen Mansell memorabilia.

Mansell first came to prominence when winning the British Formula Ford Championship in 1977 before graduating to Formula Three. He then made his Formula One debut for Lotus in 1980 and over the following 15 years won no fewer than 31 grands prix with Williams and Ferrari.

The Englishman is also in the record books for being the only driver to win back-to-back Formula One World Championship and CART IndyCar World Series crowns, a feat he achieved when clinching America’s premier open-wheel title in 1993.

‘Humbled’ to be honoured by London Classic Car Show

Mansell said: “I’m delighted, honoured and, indeed, somewhat humbled that The London Classic Car Show has selected me to be its special ‘Icon’ at this year’s event.

“Seeing all those amazing cars which I raced during my career always brings back some incredible memories, and I’m very much looking forward to sharing many of my emotional experiences with those coming to what’s clearly going to be a really great show at ExCeL. I’m really looking forward to it.”
