If you are looking to buy a ready customised head-turning Hot Rod – check out the Adrian Flux pick of the week.

It’s a Ford Model A Coupé Hot Rod and it’s coming up for sale at the end of the month. It would set you back more than £20,000 but it would be money very well spent.

The Model A, a successor to the Model T, was first introduced to the public on December 2, 1927 – its arrival was greeted with unprecedented levels of interest and it is claimed around 10 per cent of the American public went to view the new car.

Much more complex than the Model T, the A was built from 6,800 parts compared to its simpler predecessor, which was made up of just 5,000 parts.

The ruggedly constructed Model A featured Ford’s first installation of safety glass in all windows.

This Hot Rod is based on a 1929 Ford Model A Coupé and has an original steel body and original chassis.

The vendor set about rebuilding and customising the Ford when it was imported to the UK in 2011.

He stripped the bodywork right back and chopped five inches off the roof. The body was taken off the chassis with any corrosion removed, boxed, strengthened and treated.

Mechanically it was completely rebuilt with a 4.7 litre Chevrolet V8 installed along with an automatic gearbox. The rear axle, suspension and brakes were also modified.

The highly visible triple carburettors also make a statement on the streets and simply demand to be adored.

The paintwork is in good order with delightful touches such as the freehand pinstripe on the boot lid, radiator shell and transmission tunnel.

The Hot Rod featured in the custom car film “Flake and Flames” and has been used in a number of national advertising campaigns.

The car would be Vintage Hot Rod Association eligible if the disc brakes were removed and replaced with drums.

Many companies can’t cope with the huge range of modifications, Adrian Flux can and covers heavily modified cars so you know you can rest assured that your pride and joy is safely covered.
