If you’re looking for something a little different this Renault Voiturette-style electric powered self-build car, “Petal” to friends, is coming up for sale.
Hand-built from marine ply and timber, this self-build car is fitted with dual 500 watt, 24 volt motors, providing independent drive to each wheel and effective differential wheel speed on cornering.
Petal the self-build car with tiller steering
Petal will take a bit of getting used to with its tiller style steering and 26in rear wheels and 20in front ones, but it will be great fun to drive.
The self-build car is a single seater and has fast and slow speed options for both adults and children. Although it is not road legal, it can be used on the pavement under careful supervision but it’s probably more fun to give it a run in an empty and private car park.
Finished in Rossa red, Petal is valued at £400-£600 and goes under the hammer at Anglia Car Auctions in Kings Lynn on Saturday, April 14. Learn about Petal’s full spec and check out the rest of the sale catalogue.
