Every now and then I believe it is worth just thinking about Hunter S Thompson and the groundbreaking work he did in his blazing career as a writer. Notice I say ‘writer’ rather than ‘Gonzo Journalist’.<\/p>\n

Fear and Loathing<\/a>, Hells Angels<\/a> – the whole panoply of his time as a hack was characterised by a tremendous courage. He had the balls to stick his neck above the parapet and tell stories of the real life on the American Road – and mixed with the low life as well as the high life in his series of political campaign reporting.<\/p>\n
