{"id":34956,"date":"2014-02-19T13:17:00","date_gmt":"2014-02-19T13:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.influx.co.uk\/wordpress\/?p=34956"},"modified":"2022-06-14T10:44:43","modified_gmt":"2022-06-14T09:44:43","slug":"jaguar-xj15","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.adrianflux.co.uk\/influx\/blog\/jaguar-xj15\/","title":{"rendered":"Jaguar XJR-15"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Jaguar XJR-15 was the world&#8217;s first fully carbon-fibre road car. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Conceived by Jaguar&#8217;s sporting division in collaboration with Tom Walkinshaw Racing, the production of the car was seen as a way to get a fully specced endurance racer into the hungry market for very wealthy revheads. Only 53 were made between 1990 and 1992, each selling for close to a million US dollars.<\/p>\n<figure><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adrianflux.co.uk\/influx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/autowp.ru_jaguar_xjr15_2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-34957\" alt=\"...true exotica\" src=\"https:\/\/www.adrianflux.co.uk\/influx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/autowp.ru_jaguar_xjr15_2.jpg\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/a><figcaption>&#8230;true exotica<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Mechanically they were close to the Le Mans-winning Jaguar XJR-9, with a 450 HP V12 engine, and the bodies were styled by Peter Stevens &#8211; who later went on create the brutalist lines of the McLaren F1.<\/p>\n<p>The Jaguar XJR-15 is one of those supercars destined for climate-conditioned hangers, out of the prying eyes of the great unwashed and the tax man &#8211;
