{"id":44993,"date":"2016-06-03T09:58:55","date_gmt":"2016-06-03T08:58:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.influx.co.uk\/?p=44993"},"modified":"2020-01-10T17:28:38","modified_gmt":"2020-01-10T17:28:38","slug":"concours-elegance-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.adrianflux.co.uk\/influx\/blog\/concours-elegance-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"Concours of Elegance 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Concours of Elegance event has just announced its fifth edition.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Including a select list of sixty of the greatest cars on the planet this year\u2019s event, which will be held at Windsor Castle in September, is set to be bigger and more accessible than ever.<\/p>\n<p>The short list of sixty cars selected for the central event of the weekend include some gobsmackingly rare and priceless objects of 20th-century mechanical art.<\/p>\n<p>From early Benz motorised carriages from the end of the 19th century, through to a 2016 Alfa Romeo Touring Superleggera Disco Volante Spyder (below), over a hundred years of automotive creativity is celebrated and displayed on the lawns of the Queen\u2019s personal pile.<\/p>\n<figure><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adrianflux.co.uk\/influx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/touring-disco-volante-spyder-2016-04_0.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.adrianflux.co.uk\/influx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/touring-disco-volante-spyder-2016-04_0.jpg\" alt=\"touring-disco-volante-spyder-2016-04_0\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<p><strong>These sixty cars<\/strong> make up the \u2018Main Concours\u2019 event, held in Windsor\u2019s exclusive Quadrangle. The event will also bring up to a thousand of the world\u2019s most collectible cars to Windsor Castle in a celebration of the 90th birthday of the woman in charge.<\/p>\n<p>Highlights of the Main Concours include a 1900 Daimler 6hp owned by the Monarch herself, as well as a one-off 1938 Hispano Suiza Dubonnet Xenia (below) and a stunning Ferrari 250 GT Pininfarina Series I Cabriolet.<\/p>\n<figure><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adrianflux.co.uk\/influx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/1938dubonnetside.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.adrianflux.co.uk\/influx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/1938dubonnetside.jpg\" alt=\"1938dubonnetside\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nSome of the more recent cars<\/strong> in the Main Concours are a 1966 Radford Mini de Ville GT previously owned by George Harrison as well as the only factory-built Ferrari Testarossa Spider<\/p>\n<p>Zagato fans are well served this year as there\u2019ll be the chance to see in the flesh a super rare, bitingly beautiful Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato (below) &#8211; as well as the more recent Aston V12 Z.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adrianflux.co.uk\/influx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/AstonMartinZagato_1200.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.adrianflux.co.uk\/influx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/AstonMartinZagato_1200.jpg\" alt=\"AstonMartinZagato_1200\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Special Features of this year&#8217;s Concours of Elegance include<\/strong> a display of remaining cars from the very first British Grand Prix, held in the year of the Queen\u2019s birth, 1926.<\/p>\n<p>A free-to-view section of the Concours of Elegance will see hundreds of cars from the likes of Ferrari, Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce, Jaguar, Bentley and more line Windsor Castle\u2019s famous Long Walk.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the UK\u2019s most respected car clubs will be displaying the best models they have to offer, including a standout display from the Aston Martin Owners\u2019 Club, which will showcase one of every single model ever produced by the firm.<\/p>\n<p>And if you&#8217;re into Ferraris, you&#8217;ll be excited to see the famous Stirling Moss 250 SWB, as well as Graham Hill&#8217;s white 250 GTO.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adrianflux.co.uk\/influx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Graham-Hill-small.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.adrianflux.co.uk\/influx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Graham-Hill-small.jpg\" alt=\"Graham-Hill-small\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nThe Concours of Elegance is a charity fundraising event<\/strong>, and has already donated more than \u00a3800,000 to charity, and aims to break through the \u00a31million barrier in 2016.
