We talk to female motorcycle group <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vcclondon.com\/\">VC London<\/a> to see what they love about the UK motorbike scene.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Danni Bagnall: So, just what is VC London all about?<\/p>\n<p>Gemma Harrison: We started out as three friends (me, Namin Cho and Mai Storni) who were into motorcycles, or just getting into them.\u00a0I had been riding a few years already and Namin had just started to learn when we met while working\u00a0together. We then met Mai at a motorcycle party at a friend\u2019s workshop and she mentioned she wanted to start riding, so we taught her. VC\u00a0isn&#8217;t a gang or a club or\u00a0whatever, it started as an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/v__c__c\/\">Instagram account<\/a> just to\u00a0document us learning about bikes and going on road trips. Now it\u2019s just a name and a way of putting everything we do, including our events (VCC) and our workshop (based in East London etc.), under one\u00a0umbrella.<\/p>\n<figure><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adrianflux.co.uk\/influx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/alex-grant-2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.adrianflux.co.uk\/influx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/alex-grant-2-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Alex Grant VC\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><em>Image: Alex Grant<\/em><\/p>\n<p>DB: We\u2019d love to know what bikes you have.<\/p>\n<p>GH: I have a 1966 Triumph 5ta hardtail bobber (built by Steve Marshall), a\u00a0Triumph Thrust, a custom SR125 brat sort of\u00a0bike, and a CRF250,\u00a0which I share with my other half. Namin has a\u00a0Kawasaki W650 hardtail chopper (built by Redmax), and Mai\u00a0has a custom Honda CG125 and a stock XS650, which is in the process of being chopped as we speak.<\/p>\n<p>DB: Is it only two wheels for you guys, then?<\/p>\n<p>GH: Weirdly enough, the three of us only have motorcycle licences and none of us drive a car. Highly impractical, but a lot of fun.<\/p>\n<figure><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adrianflux.co.uk\/influx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Vivianna-gomez-morales-2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.adrianflux.co.uk\/influx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Vivianna-gomez-morales-2-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Vivianna gomez morales VC\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><em>Image: Vivianna Gomez Morales<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>DB: What\u2019re your thoughts on the UK motorbike scene and being female in that scene?<\/p>\n<p>GH: I don\u2019t think there\u2019s a difference between being a female or a male that\u2019s into motorcycles. We&#8217;ve never really come across much discrimination and have always been treated pretty much the\u00a0same as\u00a0everyone else. It\u2019s great that more\u00a0women are trying it out now, though. I think there is a new wave of women wanting to get into it and know more about the machines that\u00a0they&#8217;re riding. With our Camp VC event this year we are hoping to encourage and support the scene by offering on-site beginners&#8217; lessons. It\u2019s also a great way to get to meet other women who are already riding, from people who have just started, to ladies that have been riding years and on all different types of bikes. We&#8217;ve met some incredible people just through\u00a0riding our bikes; from bike builders who have been\u00a0building choppers for years, to people riding and racing flat track.\u00a0Generally, people in the bike world are really supportive and respectful of one another. You get a few haters every now and then, but you can\u2019t please everyone all the time.<\/p>\n<figure><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adrianflux.co.uk\/influx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/alex-grant-3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.adrianflux.co.uk\/influx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/alex-grant-3-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"VC Alex\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><em>Image: Alex Grant<\/em><\/p>\n<p>DB: What motorbike shows are the best to go to, if you\u2019re a female into it or looking to get into it?<\/p>\n<p>GH: In the UK, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adrianflux.co.uk\/influx\/?s=dirtquake\">Dirtquake<\/a> is a great weekend. We&#8217;re doing a lot more European trips this year too, so Wheels and Waves and Flanders Chopper Bash\u00a0are on the list! Babes ride out in the US is always amazing, too. Definitely recommend that to any women who ride. It&#8217;s a blast!<\/p>\n<figure><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adrianflux.co.uk\/influx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Vivianna-gomez-morales-3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.adrianflux.co.uk\/influx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Vivianna-gomez-morales-3-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"VC Vivianna Gomez Morales a\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><em>Image: Vivianna Gomez Morales<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>DB: Any future plans?<\/p>\n<p>GH: Our Camp VC event in the Brecon Beacons from August 4-6. There\u2019ll be\u00a0camping at a 16th century hill-top farm site, ride outs\u00a0around the national park, competitions for the best bike,\u00a0moto games, live\u00a0entertainment and bar etc., beginner\u2019s lessons and information for non-riders who\u2019re looking to get on two wheels. There\u2019s loads going on \u2013 there\u2019s even a skate ramp, with our friends from\u00a0Nefarious\u00a0giving lessons. We\u2019ve also just launched our women\u2019s line of VCC clothing. We\u2019ve got pieces for both on and off the bike, from moto jerseys with custom printed graphics and initials to 100% DuPont Kevlar lined bomber jackets.
