Kampala city is well-known for its <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Boda_boda\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Boda Boda<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; the colourful taxi bikes that transport Kampala residents from place-to-place with a certain amount of panache. It should really be no surprise that there is a vibrant culture of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vespisti<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The heyday of Vespa sales in Uganda were in the dark but economically relatively affluent days of Idi Amin &#8211; and they represent the burgeoning modernism of the era in which they were first popular. Now, the bikes are testament to the resourceful make-do-and-mend attitude of the Kampalan people.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Photographer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/arieltagar\/?hl=en\">Ariel Tagar<\/a> documented the scene.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-influx-wp.adrianflux.co.uk\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image6-768x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"A member of the Muslim community with his Vespa\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" \/><figcaption>Vespa\u2019s service all of Kampala\u2019s diverse neighbourhoods.
