There are lots of reasons why drivers might need to borrow a friend or
family member’s car, whether their own vehicle is off the road, to share

What many motorists might not realise is that insurers often provide only basic third party cover when driving someone else’s car – potentially leaving drivers unprotected and out of pocket should they have an accident.
Most car owners are wary of leaving their prized vehicles in the hands of someone without accidental damage cover, so Adrian Flux has developed its Flexdrive policy add-on, unique in the insurance marketplace, to solve the issue once and for all.
Providing comprehensive cover for any car the policyholder is legally permitted to drive, a Flexdrive policy allows motorists to make the most of their friends’ cars at short notice, without even having to notify the broker first.
While driving using the Flexdrive add-on, motorists will be insured against accidental damage, fire and theft with up to £20,000 cover for loss or damage to the car – far more than offered as standard by most insurers.
Gerry Bucke, general manager at Adrian Flux, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer this unique scheme to our customers, offering more flexibility to drivers than they have ever had before.
“This new policy add-on will be an affordable way for drivers to make the most of each others’ cars, cutting down on form-filling and making motoring as simple and hassle-free as it should be.”
Adding Flexdrive to an existing policy, from £25, has the advantage of being much more affordable than taking out new policies on each car, and saves on insurance paperwork.
