How driving instructors can use their vehicles during the lockdown

While driving tests have been postponed for at least three months during the UK coronavirus lockdown, there are still plenty of ways driving instructors can use their vehicles.

The government’s new Self Employed scheme is set to come into effect possibly in June after it was announced late in March. This scheme will allow you to claim a taxable grant worth 80% of your trading profits up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for the next 3 months. This may be extended if needed.

In the meantime driving instructors could sign up to help their local communities to aid with the delivery of food supplies to the elderly and vulnerable, who may need their help during the coronavirus lockdown period.

Alternatively you could swap your insurance policy to delivery use, should you be hired to become a key worker delivering goods to those who need them.

At Adrian Flux we know how integral the role is that driving instructors play in society in teaching tomorrow’s drivers and that’s why all of our existing driving instructor policies can contact us to revert their policy to a standard one during this unprecedented time.

We can also switch your current driving instructor policy to delivery use as long as it’s not for fast food delivery.

But if you choose to not use your vehicle during the lockdown period we could of course cancel your existing policy with a favourable refund if you swap it to a laid up insurance policy.
