Syd Mead is a self-created industry.
He deals in colour, line and imagination – and his vision of an automotive future has seen his work featured in films like Blade Runner, Tron and Johnny Mnemonic.
But we just dig the work for the colour, light and imagined shade of a place where lines are straight and the sensibilities twisted.
Syd is able to put onto a flat image a mid-century vision of the world that survives and is, indeed, reflected in cars like the BMW i8 and i3 – which in a way harness the sort of futurist aesthetic that Syd created.

I have a book of these designs, fascinating. Bertone & Guigaro must have looked at these for their 70’s Maserati’s & Lamborghini masterworks
