"Since April 17th 1964 the Ford Mustang has been influencing people by its iconic design, prestige and luxury. With projected sales of less than 100,000 units in the first year, Ford was quickly inundated, surpassing a million units within 18 months of launch. "
March Calendar Car – Mustang
Our Calendar car for March - the Ford Mustang Mach 1
Our 2019 Calendar car for March was Mark’s incredible and beautiful brute – the Ford Mustang Mach 1.
“I was fortunate enough to have a mid-career break back in 2010 and always wanted to restore a classic.” He says. “This 1972 Ford Mustang Mach 1 came up on eBay requiring a lot of work and I thought it would be an ideal project as Mustang parts are quite easily available albeit mainly from the states.
“Two years – and several replacement body panels including rear quarters, floor pans and bonnet – later and the car was finally on the road.
“The engine is a 351 Cleveland linked to the original FMX cruise-o-matic 3-speed box. The carb was upgraded to a Holley 4-barrel, otherwise I’ve tried to keep the car as original as possible.
“The Mach 1 gets a lot of attention where ever it goes and it was a Mach 1 that featured in the famous Las Vegas car chase in James Bond’s Diamonds are Forever.
“While I don’t think I would ever sell the car, if I had to swap with a car in the calendar it would be the amazing Bugatti Veyron.”
