Are hydrogen cars expensive to run?

Although the upfront cost of a hydrogen car – whether new or used – is relatively expensive, running costs can be relatively cheap compared to other types of vehicles. This is because greener vehicles are eligible for some tax breaks and government incentives.

Most fuel-cell hydrogen cars are exempt from fuel duty and road tax, and do not have to pay the London Congestion Charge or other clean air zone charges.

How many MPG does a hydrogen car get?

Research suggests that hydrogen cars can get the equivalent of 70 miles per gallon. These cars can usually drive around 300 miles on a single tank, which makes them a great alternative to electric cars – especially when you consider that they can be refuelled in just a few minutes.
